The Franklin Mint is a private mint in the United States started in the 1960s. It produced collectible items, commonly silver and gold commemorative products. It also produced diecast collectibles, dolls, figurines and plates.
Since the turn of the century, though, much of the Franklin's Mint's business was wound down or sold off by a private investment firm. Today, the Franklin Mint appears to make few, if any, collectibles as its website lists many products seemingly made by others.
The Franklin Mint website, under control of a TV advertising company, bizarrely states none of its products can be resold. It is a silly and plainly illegal statement, reflecting in our view a lack of professional competence.
The good news for collectors is that Franklin Mint collectibles made over the years are now even more collectible. That is what happens when a company goes out of business, or effectively out of business.
